The “Spark”
Recognizing one’s divine spark is essential for Catholic teenagers as it helps them understand their inherent dignity and connection to God. According to the Catechism of the Catholic Church, every person is made in the image and likeness of God, which means they possess a divine spark within them. This recognition fosters a sense of self-worth, purpose, and spiritual identity. Encouraging teenagers to acknowledge their divine spark can lead to greater self-awareness, humility, and a deeper relationship with God. It helps them see themselves as beloved children of God, called to reflect His love in the world.
This Ted Talk by Peter L. Benson gives us an insight into helping those we love to find that “spark” which drives them.
Anonymity is deeply unsettling for us. We know we are made to be loved, seen, beheld, etc. This lesson on the love that exists in the Trinity will help us reclaim that divine spark of love that lives within us!
