It’s April 1970 when three astronauts set out on NASA’s third lunar landing mission. But two days into the flight, an oxygen tank explodes, crippling the spacecraft and forcing the crew to abandon any hope of reaching the moon. Now their only goal is getting home alive.

Surviving between the Earth and the moon gives the astronauts a very different perspective of their home planet, both literally and figuratively. While they ration power and oxygen in a damaged vessel hundreds of thousands of miles from Earth, the mission becomes a desperate race against time. Back on the ground, NASA’s finest minds work around the clock to devise creative solutions to problems no one has ever faced before, while the families of the crew can do little but pray and wait.

Based on an incredible true story, Apollo 13 is a thrilling and inspiring portrait of human ingenuity, teamwork, and courage under pressure, celebrating the men and women of the American space program. The film is rated PG, though its sustained tension and moments of intense peril may be better suited for older or more mature viewers.
