Eight Below
Jerry Shepard is an Antarctic sled dog handler who knows his eight dogs better than anyone. When a visiting geologist needs to reach a remote research site, Jerry reluctantly agrees to take him on the dangerous trek across the ice. But the journey is cut short when a brutal storm forces the entire team to evacuate the base immediately. Even worse, there’s no time to transport the dogs, so Jerry chains them at the base with a promise to return as soon as possible.
Back in the US, Jerry desperately tries to find funding for a rescue mission, but has no luck given the danger of the severe Antarctic weather, and he’s is encouraged to accept the worst. Meanwhile, the eight dogs must survive the brutal winter on their own, hundreds of miles from any human help. Breaking free of their chains, they explore the frozen wilderness, hunting for food and facing dangers while protecting each other.
Inspired by a true story from a 1958 Japanese Antarctic expedition, Eight Below is a heart-warming survival adventure celebrating teamwork and resilience. The film is rated PG, but does include some moments of intense drama, and may be best enjoyed by viewers who can handle some sad and tense moments.
