One Magic Christmas

Here’s one last holiday film for Christmastide.

Ginny Grainger is struggling to find any joy in Christmas this year. Her husband is unemployed, she works long hours under an unforgiving supervisor, and her family is facing eviction from their home. While her young daughter still believes wholeheartedly in Christmas magic and writes letters to Santa, Ginny has lost sight of the season’s true meaning under the weight of financial stress and worry. When the angel Gideon is sent to restore Ginny’s Christmas spirit, he begins working through her daughter, whose innocent faith contrasts with her mother’s cynicism.

When faced with a sudden family tragedy, Ginny is pushed to her breaking point, forced to reconsider everything she had been taking for granted. Through Gideon’s guidance, her daughter’s faith, and some Christmas magic, Ginny is led back to the Christmas spirit she knew as a child.

Somewhat reminiscent of It’s a Wonderful Life, One Magic Christmas offers a simple but meaningful exploration of faith and gratitude in the face of hardship. The film is rated G, but is likely better suited for older children and families who can handle its emotionally mature themes.
