The Spiderwick Chronicles

When twin brothers Jared and Simon move into a crumbling old estate following their parents’ divorce, Jared discovers a secret attic study belonging to the house’s previous owner and finds his life’s work: a detailed field guide to the fantastical creatures that coexist invisibly alongside humans, such as fairies, goblins, and ogres. Ignoring a clear warning not to read the book, Jared opens it and sets off a chain of events that puts the whole family in danger.

As goblins and other threatening creatures descend on the estate in search of the book’s powerful secrets, the twins and their sister realize they must work together to find the only person who can help them destroy it before it falls into the wrong hands. To set things right, Jared will have to temper his impulsiveness, learn to trust his family, and think before he acts.

Based on the popular children’s book series, The Spiderwick Chronicles is a fast-paced fantasy adventure featuring themes of curiosity, sibling teamwork, and taking responsibility for one’s mistakes. The film is rated PG and is family-friendly, but the goblin attacks and mild fantasy violence may be too frightening for very young viewers.
