Think Like a Dog

Middle schooler and science prodigy Oliver is upset when his mind-reading invention seems to fail during a science fair presentation. Trying to fix his invention later that night, he accidentally pairs his brain with his dog’s, allowing him to hear his pet’s simple yet insightful thoughts. As Oliver navigates the typical challenges of adolescence, the canine’s alternate perspective on life offers Oliver a chance to reevaluate his own.

Meanwhile, a charismatic tech mogul is determined to steal Oliver’s mind-reading technology for his own nefarious purposes. As the mogul closes in, Oliver and his dog must work together to protect the technology while also using their unique bond to help reunite Oliver’s parents, whose worries and stresses about money and careers are drifting them toward divorce.

Think Like a Dog is a heartwarming family comedy that delivers gentle humor alongside meaningful messages about communication, finding joy in simple things, and the importance of focusing on what’s truly important in life: love and family.

While the film involves some mild peril and emotional moments regarding the parents’ relationship troubles, it handles these themes with sensitivity appropriate for younger viewers. Rated PG, the film is family-friendly, but does include some crude humor and language. (The film also includes some rather blatant though harmless pro-China references thanks to the film’s Chinese producers.)
