OCIA for Formation Leaders

The New Order of Christian Initiation of Adults

Thank you for answering the call to serve as a leader in the Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA). As our diocese moves forward with the updated liturgical texts promulgated by the USCCB, this page is your dedicated space for the tools, lesson plans, and frameworks required to guide seekers on their journey of true conversion. While the core philosophy and grace of the initiation process remain unchanged, the transition from RCIA to OCIA introduces several shifts designed to deepen pastoral care and liturgical accuracy. Use the resources below to familiarize yourself with the newly translated prayers, download updated curriculum materials, and access training schedules as we work together to shepherd souls into full communion with the Church.

What is the OCIA?

The OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation of Adults), also called the Catechumenate, is a process of initiation into the Catholic Community of Faith for persons who are experiencing a conversion in their lives and seeking either Christian baptism in the Catholic Church or full Communion with the Catholic tradition of Eucharist and Confirmation.
