The Ten Commandments

With Easter almost here, how about a famous classic Biblical epic? (Though, with its epic runtime, this one may work better as a two-night event.)

The Ten Commandments dramatizes the life of Moses (Charlton Heston) as he’s adopted into the Egyptian Pharaoh’s family, is ultimately banished, and, obeying instructions from God, returns to free the Hebrews from their Egyptian slavery. But even after they escape and gain their freedom, the wilderness is harsh, and they will need Moses’ guidance and leadership if they are to make it to the Promised Land.

Though perhaps more theatrical than realistic, the profound and timeless story is certainly worthy of it, as it may help us to contemplate God’s great love for His people, especially by noticing the many parallels between the story of Moses delivering his people from slavery and the coming of Jesus to deliver us from our sins.
