Anastasia

This week’s film is a popular animated adventure from the 90s.

Orphaned as a child, the young adult Anya remembers very little of her early childhood, and wants to find her family. When a conman notices she looks an awful lot like the missing princess Anastasia, rumored to have survived an attack on her royal family, he quickly decides to present her to Anastasia’s grandmother for a handsome reward.

But while training Anya in knowledge of the Romanovs, the conman begins to realize two things: first, that Anya truly is the lost princess Anastasia, and second, that he’s falling in love.

Also complicating the adventure is the evil undead Rasputin, who wants to put an end to the Romanov family once and for all.

A family-friendly adventure featuring a number of catchy songs, Anastasia explores what it means to be true to yourself, acknowledging that “who you are” is not defined by the circumstances of your past, but the decisions you make today.
