Hoot
Teenager Roy doesn’t know anyone in town after he and his family move to Florida. But he soon becomes curious about another local boy he sees running around barefoot, wondering if he needs help. Meanwhile, a clumsy but well-meaning police officer is trying to figure out who keeps vandalizing a nearby construction site.
As Roy begins to befriend the barefoot boy, he learns that his new friend is the one behind the construction site’s vandalization, as he’s trying to stop the construction work from destroying the habitat of a legally-protected species of ground-burrowing owls. Finding the cause worthy, Roy sets his more practical-minded efforts toward helping to save the creatures.
Based on the middle-grade novel, Hoot is a family-friendly comedy drama that encourages respect for nature and our shared environment, as well as highlighting the meaning of friendship.
