Big Miracle

It’s the late 80s when Alaskan news reporter Adam Carlson happens to spot a trio of gray whales trapped by pack ice in the Arctic Circle. With temperatures dropping, it won’t be long before the surface freezes over and the whales drown. Hoping to help save them, Carlson quickly films a news story to draw attention to the situation.

But saving the whales seems an impossible task. The nearby oil company doesn’t want to waste expensive resources on the animals, local hunters would rather collect the whales for food, and that’s not to mention the many technical hurdles involved in making a passage through five miles of ice.

Still, the news has captured the attention of the nation, and Carlson and his ex-girlfriend, an environmental activist, are determined to do all they can to free the whales.

Inspired by the true events of 1988’s “Operation Breakthrough”, Big Miracle offers an inspiring reminder about humans’ ability to work together for a common cause. The drama is rated PG and is family-friendly.
