Earth to Echo
As childhood friends Tuck, Alex, and Munch prepare for their last night together before some of them move away, they decide to investigate why their smartphones are glitching strangely when crossing some kind of invisible threshold. Searching for answers, they stumble upon a small robot-looking alien whom they decide to call “Echo”. After getting to know the strange creature and its intentions, they agree to help it search the local town for pieces with which to activate its spaceship.
Meanwhile, a local construction crew is on their tail. They seem to know something other-worldly is going on, and they don’t trust it one bit. The young friends now have to decide whether this bizarre alien is worth helping, and learn how to put their trust in one another.
Told in a “found footage” style, in which the story is presented mainly through a camcorder that the characters take turns holding, the film is a fun fast-paced adventure, somewhat reminiscent of E.T., The Iron Giant, and The Goonies, affirming trust and loyalty as the foundations of true friendship. Some crude humor may be inappropriate for some younger viewers.
