Muppet Treasure Island

Here’s a classic adventure story perfect for the summer, told through the unique comedy of the Muppets.

Jim Hawkins is a young orphan working at an inn whose life is turned upside-down when he’s given a treasure map by a retired pirate. Setting out to find the treasure, which lies on an island across the sea, Hawkins finds a squire (portrayed by Fozzie) who’s willing to arrange a voyage to the island, hiring a number of familiar Muppets to fill out the crew, including Kermit the Frog as the captain.

But the ship’s cook, the infamous Long John Silver (Tim Curry), has his eyes set on the treasure too, and he doesn’t care who he has to lie to or hurt to get it. Gaining the young Hawkins’ trust is merely part of his scheme.

A must-see for any Muppets fan, the film features the Muppets’ unique brand of wackiness, along with a number of catchy songs, while the story explores the virtues of honesty and friendship in relation to the greed and desire for wealth that can so easily cloud our hearts.
